Foodism recommends lager with fish and poultry, while an ale better suits red meat. In other words, lager is to fish/poultry as white wine is to said dishes; ale is to red meat as red wine is to said dishes. Ales tend to have more hops than lagers and pair well with spicy and oily foods, similar to high acidity wines.
