Best value wines

In their most recent wine column, Gaiter and Brecher report that Foley Estates Vineyard & Winery 'Rancho Santa Rosa' 2004 is the "best of tasting" of 60 California Pinot Noirs priced between $20 and $50. The Morgan Winery 'Twelve Clones' 2004 is the "best value." (See Tastings in the 9/8/06 Wall Street Journal.)

Reporting on green wine or Vinho Verde from Portugal, Wineau columnist, Blair Campbell, recommends the Pocas 'Coroa D'Ouro' 2004, writing that "it tastes of crisp green leaves and is reminiscent of a freshly cut lawn." The wine is priced at $4.99 per bottle. (See the 9/6/06 East Bay Express.)
